SOME GOOD DOPE
“The heads are together, the tea is abrew; light up the party, and pass me one too.” This seems to be one of the more popular sentiments these days. And the curious, adventuresome nature of man does appreciate the way the wonder-weed (and other varieties) affects his or her mind. The greater awareness, sensitivity, and peace makes the ordinary details and experiences of life extraordinary and fun even. Time is different and everything seems to be in slow-motion except the smoker. Friendships seem better and conversation comes easier. Riding a bicycle, driving a car, or even just walking along are special and involving pastimes. Then music seems so much better - everything comes out. Now even though the whole act is temporary and basically a lie, the general attitude toward smoking some good dope is, “don’t bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me.”
Since the “Age of Aquarius” has dawned, it’s a pity that so many settle for the artificial highs. It’s a fact that knowing God’s Spirit is very similar in many respects to being “stoned.” This quality “high” enters one’s being and gives him greater awareness, sensitivity, and peace. His eyes are opened to realities never imagined before. Then the ordinary becomes extraordinary as he sees dynamic divine response to the details of his daily life. The idea of God Almighty hearing and doing special things just for him is overwhelming. Receiving a needed item, job, problem solution, healing, etc. at the precise time is impressive to say the least. Realizing mysterious guidance during and after events transpire makes him wonder what the whole thing will come to. Then the general presence of the Holy Spirit gives assurance that all is well in spite of Hell. After a while the general attitude toward this experience is “don’t bogart that Book my friend, pass it over to me!”
Why settle for a second-rate high (especially one that’s demonic and destructive to body, mind, and spirit) when the Majestic Power of eternity offers the best one for free? “It shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. . .” Since He is pouring out His Spirit these last days, why not get in on it? “Do not get drunk with wine (or dope for that matter), for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.” “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.:” God’s Spirit and Word are "Some Good Dope" indeed. It’s cheaper, it’s deeper, more satisfying too; why not try Jesus, He’s waiting for you. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with me.” Scriptures referred to are: Joel 2:28, Ephesians 5:18, Psalms 16:11, Revelation 3: 20 respectively. KJV, RSV, AND NAS.
